Yeppie!!! (OMG it reminds of Ms.Lee's dog.. ㅜㅡㅜ)
Anyways, first off. Jenny, I truly appreciate your amazing review...
I took some time to review those vocabularies, and it was really helpful.
I used two of them in my WH assignment. Draconian and defiant were the
vocabularies that I used. So, let me begin! : ) + I'll write definitions in my own words!
Thus creating a review page would be easier in the future.
By the way, I chose vocabularies that you already know (probably), although I was unsure of the exact
definitions. What I thought was that these vocabularies may be sitting in the deep recesses of your
brain, but not exercised often. Okay, now I'll really start!
1. ingratiate (used with -self often times)
(v.) to make yourself the "favored one" by flattering
John was ingratiating himself with sophisticated questions, and a veneer of naive smile.
2. insinuate
(v.) to hint sth. bad in an indirect way
Because I didn't want Henry to be in trouble, I constantly insinuated him to stop cheating.
3. havoc
(n.) destruction
Nine-one-one terror is the greatest havoc I can think of on top of my head.
4. covet
(v.) longing to possess
Anna coveted to take a bite of my cookie. ( This is real situation ㅋㅋㅋㅋ.. I didn't give her a CRUMB b/c she's been gaining weight lately)
5. incessant
(adj.) continuation
I had an incessant lecture from Mr. Spivey, and now I'm all exhausted.
Andy's vocabularies used in today's geometry class: (I ACTUALLY took a note.)
1. eradicable: destroy TOTALLY
2. constellate: gather together
3. ameliorate: improve, make it better
4. calumniate: make false/defamatory statements (e.g. Mrs.Thu sucks at teaching)- I told you that she's really good at teaching right?
Okay, DONE~ byeee! Ordinary Words:
1. Inadvertent
(adj.) not attentive enough (due to unintentional lack of care); 무심결에 부주의한
Due to the inadvertent mistakes on my spelling, I lost a lot of points on my supposed-to-be-well-written essay.
2. Remiss
(adj.) negligent towards duty; showing slackness
Nowadays, the media is remiss about informing the public about the gory situations in civil Palestine and Israel.
3. Lax
(adj.) neglecting one's duty or obligation
The guard's lax ways of defense allowed many invaders to find their paths into the building without much trouble.
Confusing Words:
Affection vs. Affectation
4. Affection
(n.) tender feeling towards another
I have a strong affection towards my pet, Steppie.
5. Affectation
(n.) artificial behavior adopted to impress others
Her British accent is just an affectation for her elite education and social status.
